Centuries of tradition dictate that the direction of the coinage profile alternates with each new monarch, therefore the King is portrayed facing left. This portrait, which was approved by the King himself, is an example of the work of renowned British sculptor Martin Jennings.


Reverse: The Royal Cypher of King Charles III is prominently positioned at the center of a laurel wreath and the inscription "THE CORONATION OF KING CHARLES III 6 MAY 2023"on the reverse. The cypher features a stylized interpretation of the Tudor Crown hovering above the entwined characters "C," "III" and "R." The inscriptions are emblematic of the monarch's name "Charles III" and "Rex," which is the Latin word meaning "King" in Latin. An additional line of tiny repeating text which states "THE CORONATION OF KING CHARLES III," "6 MAY 2023" and "1 OZ FINE SILVER 999" encircles the entirety of the design adjacent to the coin's rim. The reverse design is credited to acclaimed British coin designer John Bergdahl.
