Goldback Gold Notes are produced by layering gold in thin, small amounts between two sheets of polyester. Even though the production of the gold notes offers basic protection, the notes are housed in protective plastic currency sleeves for added protection.

Obverse

In the obverse design of 5 New Hampshire Goldback Gold Notes is a female personification of Veritas. Female allegories are literary devices used to capture virtues and ideals in the human form. Female personifications are among the most popular, with Veritas representing the Roman goddess of truth. In this design, Veritas is shown in a Victorian-era dress with a covered bridge in the background field. Across the other side of the bridge are the mountains of the Appalachian range in New Hampshire with a moose that has wandered down to the waters edge. Veritas is walking along with a lit candle in her left hand held up to guide the way.

Reverse

For the reverse face of the 5 New Hampshire Goldback Gold Note, the design field is blank. While you can see the mirror image of the obverse design, there is no dedicated design element that is purposely produced on this face of the gold notes.

History

New Hampshire is the latest state to join the Goldback Gold Note Series. Utah was the first, followed by Nevada. Now, the first state to form its own independent government and the first to write its own constitution, New Hampshire joins the series. The Granite State, a nod to its granite formations and historic quarries, is home to Mount Washington. The peak is the highest in the northeastern United States and reaches up to 6,288 feet in height.
